How old do you have to be to change parental custody?

My parents have been divorced since I was 2. My mom doesn't get along with my dad, and she doesn't allow me to go see him on his weekends anymore. I have always wanted to go and live with him, so how can I get custody changed without having my mothers consent? How old do you have to be to change parental custody?Usually 12 yrs old in most states. Your father has to petition the court or if there is an order stating you go there on this day etc.,. and your mother will not allow you to do that then your father has to file contempt hearing. You then will have to go to court and state your wishes in front of the judge.

Good Luck... the might be a reason your Mom is so mad.How old do you have to be to change parental custody? It depends on the state you are in, laws vary state to state on this. How old do you have to be to change parental custody? The court would decide whether to allow a change of custody. Your father would have to ask for a change of custody. They would take your desire into consideration but ultimately it would be out of your hands.
