My husband and I have been separated for a little over 7 months; we are waiting for the year that we have to wait in VA to get the divorce. I agreed to joint physical custody b/c he is a good father, and I think it's important for little boys to have their father around when they are growing up. Recently though, his dad and I haven't been getting along well at all, and I just found out that while he had our son with him at his mother's, he had to go into work for a few hours and left him with her. She had to go to work, so she left him with the neighbor. I have never met this woman, or even seen her, and my son has special needs. He is transplant recipient and still has a feeding tube, so he can't be left with %26quot;just anyone%26quot;. He didn't even tell me that he was leaving him there, and that is what I am upset about. If I can't trust him to tell me where my son is, how can I let him take him? I have tried to explain this to him and asked him to from now on please tell me if he is leaving him someplace, especially if I don't know them, but of course he got defensive and said he did nothing wrong. How do I go about changing the custody to full for myself? Do I need a lawyer? How do I go about filing for custody of my son?You seem to have a good relationship with your husband.
