Can I use my child's SSI money for an attorney?

My 7yr old daughter is on SSI based on her ADHD and has been in counseling for about 4 months now and the counseler suspects she has Asperger's Syndrome so now we are on our way with that getting an evaluation from a specialist. Her father refuses to acknowledge the problems she has and does not want to education himself or learn better ways of dealing with her behaviors. Based on things she has reported to the counselor and the fact that her father refuses to acknowledge or learn about ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome (he just wants to yell, scream and whoop her butt) the counselor has advised me to change to sole physical and legal custody and cut his visitation down because it's not in my daughters best interests to be in an environment with people that don't understand her or know how to deal with her behavior.

I plan on calling social security tomorrow to ask them this, but wondered if someone has dealt with this before that could maybe answer me here tonight. Can I use part of her SSI money to help pay for an attorney to change custody if it is in her best interests and recommended by her counselor?

TIACan I use my child's SSI money for an attorney?SSI is to be used to support your minor child if that includes getting an attorney to keep her safe then I don't see where it would be a problem. My dad used my SSI money for God knows what growing up ...So as long as it will benefit your child I say go for it... MAYBE he will wake up from it.Can I use my child's SSI money for an attorney?God I hope not

That money is for your child

not your little tiff with her father
